Day out with Ian Jarvis to Stratford-upon-Avon Victorian Christmas Market
December 6 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Friday 6th December Stratford-upon-Avon Victorian Christmas Market
Coach £20 – Total £20 per person
It’s a gorgeous town, Stratford, as many of you will know. As well as a great shopping arena (some superb independents and good old favourites such as *whispers* Marks and Sparks), there are the wonderful Shakespeare houses (you can pre-book online at shakespeare.org.uk); and the pretty canal basin with its riverside garden and boat trips. Just five minutes’ walk from the town centre, you’ll even find the UK’s largest tropical butterfly farm, at Swan’s Nest Lane.
But we’ve picked an extra special day for our excursion, when the Victorian Christmas Market is on. Taking place in the town centre, its stall-holders all wear Victorian costume. And there’s free entertainment throughout the town, including a stage in Henley Street hosting a programme of performances. If you’re feeling brave, there’s a traditional funfair with carousel. Otherwise, buy your Christmas gifts throughout the town streets, or head to Wood Street, where all the delicious food and drink stalls will be plying you with their wares. Just make sure the coach suspension still holds when you get back on J
